Sozo

What does Sozo Mean?

Sozo is a word of Greek origin, used numerous times in the New Testament. It means “to save or make well or whole,” and, according to Strong’s Greek Dictionary of the New Testament, also means “to save, deliver, heal, and preserve.” The different contexts in which the word sozo is used in scripture demonstrate the completeness of the word as well as the three aspects of sozo: salvation, healing, and deliverance.

Sozo means “salvation”:

There is salvation (sozo) in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save (sozo) them. - Acts 4:12

For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (sozo).
- Romans 10:9

God saved (sozo) you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. - Ephesians 2:8

Sozo means “healing”:

Jesus turned around and said to her, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well (sozo).” And the woman was healed (sozo) at that moment.
- Matthew 9:22

...The sick begged him (Jesus) to let them at least touch the fringe of his robe, and all who touched it were healed (sozo). - Mark 6:56

Sozo means “deliverance”:

Then those who had seen what happened told the others how the demon-possessed man had been healed (sozo). - Luke 8:36

Yes, and the Lord will deliver (sozo) me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly Kingdom. - 2 Timothy 4:18

Sozo Ministry at The Gateway

The ministry we call “sozo” (or “inner healing”) focuses on the third aspect of sozo, which is deliverance.

The members of our sozo team are seasoned prayer servants who understand and agree to minister under the pastor’s authority, have received training, and have been approved for ministry by our pastor. The sensitive nature of sozo ministry requires servants who can respect confidences, and we are committed to respecting yours.

Our goal is to help you receive the complete sozo package (salvation, healing, and deliverance) by helping you to experience freedom from strongholds, from lies, from past hurts, from anger, from unforgiveness, from bitterness, from guilt, from shame, from demonic oppression, and so on.

Our approach to inner healing ministry is very low-key, patient, and loving. Those who undergo sozo ministry at The Gateway find it to be a gentle, healing, cleansing process through which they can gain freedom from the deep-seated issues that have prevented them from experiencing the fullness of hope, joy, and peace that is theirs through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus.

Our passion is to see you completely healed and whole, connected to the Godhead in an intimate way, and walking out the destiny that God had in mind for you from the very beginning!
